Buckland Abbey Wedding – Dartmoor

Sam and Charmaine

One thing you can never predict in the UK is the weather, and especially in Dartmoor and a year in advance, but this year with the Heatwave we are blessed with gorgeous sunshine. The location is Buckland Monachorum and Buckland Abbey near Yelverton in Devon and the couple both live and breathe Dartmoor so what better way to spend the wedding in the outdoors. The Bride arrived in a beautiful  vintage car and followed in with her four Bridesmaids in canary yellow. The Church ceremony was a full house with fellow doctors, family and friends and sealed on the way out with the customary confetti throwing. I love taking photos of the confetti, such expressionate faces, smiles and laughs. It was a short drive to the National Trust grounds of the Abbey where the couple reside, in the South Lodge. The daytime guests were treated to a countryside views, marquee and a bounty of homemade favours. After the meals and speeches it was time to head down to the Abbey to the Great Barn for a local folk band and barn dancing, all with a sprinkling of local ales, beers and hog roast. It was a magnificent day  full of fun, sun and lasting memories.
