Praia de Alvor Wedding, Portugal

Will and Corrina Gee

This was my fourth wedding overseas, can I officially call myself an international photographer now?  Hmmm, maybe! First was Tuscany, then Las Vegas, Dubai and now Portugal. So after a 2 and a half hour flight, 1 hour drive I arrive at the beautiful town of Praia de Alvor. The resort is Prainha Clube situated on the seafront with amazing views perfect for any beach wedding. This was no ordinary wedding though, the couple are cool, creative and quirky, every photographers dream, so it was just a case of battling with the sunshine, and water, not something you would normally hear at a wedding gathering, more on that in a minute. So with my game face on it was time to get snapping in the heat, the couple love retro and eclectic things so this coastal wedding reflected that, with 7″ Beach Boy vinyl singles as the table centre pieces (they love vinyl, see the pre-wedding shoot here) and everyone donning shades, shorts, summer dresses and flip flops. The day went incredibly smoothly, tears and laughs at the ceremony, the speeches, and of course the drunken dancing but nothing beats finishing the days shoot with a quick change in to your boardies and joining the bride and groom in the pool. Armed with a waterproof camera about 80% of the guests joined in too, it was like watching lemmings throwing themselves of the cliff edge into the pool! The day was a huge success , everybody enjoyed themselves immensely, but I am afraid the wedding dress didn’t quite make it through the night, but hey what a story that dress has to tell!
